Well, I finally got to go further north than the airport.....And yes it is possible to go further north than that....LOL. It was a long drive to the Twin Falls Gorge Territorial Park, well I guess not that long but let me tell you, when there is nothing but trees to look at it seems like a very long drive. Any ways on to the point of my blog tonight. I GOT TO S
EE REAL LIVE WATER FALLS!!!! It was great. We went to see two of them, the first one we went to, which is actually the second one on the road but Wes drove by it, was called Louise Falls. It was very pretty as the pictures will show.
We walked down to the look point and took a couple of pictures there and then originally we were going to walk from there to the first fall but we found a second look out point and it had many many stairs...it took us like 15 minutes to walk down this darn hill with all the stairs and it took longer to walk back up, so needless to say I was to tierd after that to walk the 3km to the next fall and the 3 k
m back if you know what I mean.
These two pictures are of Louise fall taken at different angles obviously. The only thing that disappointed me about the whole trip is as you can see the water was very dirty.
The name of the second fall was Alexandra, as you will see from the pictures it was much bogger than the Louise Fall. I almost seen someone jump off the rail and plummet to what I am sure would be a slow and painful death as your body pegged from cliff to cliff ect. But anyways on to happy thoughts.
This is My favorite Picture I took of the Alexandra Fall. I had to take it
three times, as my brother kept putting his fat head in front of my camera. It is not a very good one to show the height of the fall but I like it because I think that the trees accent the falls beautifully. You can see in the back that that the cliffs are very steep, the only difference between that side and the one we were on is that the side we were on had little cliffs, and by little I mean very little.
This Picture below I think was the best one to illustrate the height of this particular fall. Once again I was a little disappointed that the water was yellow, I always pictured falls with blue water and what not, but hey what can you expect right? I was told that the water was yellow like that because of all the spring run off.
I hope you all will enjoy seeing these pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them.....But before you go getting all excited that you don't have to read anymore.....I'm not done yet......LOL. I have so much m
ore to write about my trip....Now earlier I wrote that I have never been further north than our airport....Well I should have said I haven't been further north of our airport to sight see. Ten years ago I went up tp Faro, which is in the northern part of Yukon Territory. That was very beautiful country up there... And I have been in the North West Territories too, well actually truth be told, I was at the Yellowknife airport. So this trip was exciting for me because I got to see some of the N.W.T, when my plane landed briefly in Yellowknife, all I got to see was well the outside of the airport, all we were there for was to pick up a couple of passengers, so we were unable to get off the plane. ohhhh, I forget where I was going with that.
As you noticed the title to my blog tonight is "North Of 60" I have called it that because when you get to the Alberta/NWT border you have reached the 60th parallel. They have this park there that is called The 60th Parallel Territorial Park, at this park they have a little tourist information center and when you go in they have this big stuffed polar bear and they give you this certificate to show that you have been north of 60. I thought it was cool, nobody ever gave me a certificate for going somewhere before....LOL.
Now on the way up there, I got to see the coolest sign ever..........Now who can tell me where Santa's reindeer go to drink????? Wait for it...Have you made your guess???? Ok look...... Talk to all you guys later!!!! Hope you enjoyed this as much as I did. And for the Record that is a REAL SIGN.
